The Swiss gaming authority, Gespa, has declared that Jean-Michel Cina will take on the position of president, succeeding Jean-François Roth.

Cina will step into the role on the first of January, 2022, and will hold the position until the thirty-first of December, 2025.

Cina has a lengthy history of public service, having served as a representative in the Valais cantonal assembly for twelve years between 2005 and 2017. During this time, he also acted as head of the cantonal executive council.

More recently, Cina served as the head of the board of directors for the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation SSG SSR. He also served as vice-chair of the expert group on the state lottery market.

In addition to Cina, Miriam Weber and Professor Pascal Mahon were chosen for the Gespa board of directors. They will take the place of Bruno Elni and Jean-Marc Lap, who are leaving their positions.

Gespa expressed appreciation to the departing president and board members for their years of service.

As original members, they were crucial figures in establishing the authority and made significant contributions to enhancing and professionalizing the regulations for lotteries, sports betting, and skill-based games.
