AGA Urges Attorney General to Crack Down on Illicit Gambling

The American Gaming Association (AGA) has penned a letter to the U.S. Attorney General, urging him to take action against illicit gambling enterprises. The AGA desires the government to take a firm stance against companies such as Bovada, MyBookie, and BetOnline, which they claim are operating unlawfully and harming consumers, state economies, and the legitimate gaming sector.

The AGA is also apprehensive about unregulated “skill game” machines. They seek government intervention to ensure that these machines are subject to regulation and adhere to all applicable laws.

The danger of illicit wagering is not a novel concern, but its widespread and organized expansion online and in neighborhoods has elevated the issue to one that necessitates the federal government’s utmost focus, Miller declared.

We strongly encourage the department to prioritize action…to safeguard American consumers, suppress illicit operators, and enforce federal rules.

Illicit operators have been alerted: Their days as a blight on our nation are numbered.

These criminals exploit vulnerable patrons, offering no consumer safeguards, no guarantees of integrity or fair play, and no economic advantage to states or tribal groups.
