Mississippi is about to reconsider online sports wagering with a new bill.
Senate Bill 2396, presented by Senator Scott DeLano, lays out a strategy to modify the state’s current law and permit online and mobile betting.

Mississippi launched its regulated sports wagering market in August 2018, but currently, bettors can only place wagers at brick-and-mortar casinos.

The provisions in SB 2396 state that bettors will be permitted to place sports wagers through internet platforms authorized and licensed by the Mississippi Gaming Commission.

Operators will be limited to running one online sports wagering platform per license.

The proposal does not include specifics on how many licenses will be issued, the cost of these licenses, or the tax rate that operators will have to pay.
