Churchill Downs Incorporated Appoints Sam Ulrich as Vice President of Investor Relations
Churchill Downs Incorporated expresses great enthusiasm in welcoming Sam Ulrich to the position of Vice President of Investor Relations. Ulrich will be working under the guidance of Marcia Dall, who holds the title of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at CDI.
Within this capacity, Ulrich will serve as the primary liaison for investors, collaborating closely with stakeholders, prospective investors, and financial analysts.
Ulrich brings over a decade and a half of expertise in finance for publicly listed companies. Prior to joining CDI, he held the position of Director of Commercial and Financial Planning at KFC, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands.
Ulrich’s career commenced at PwC in Louisville, Kentucky, where he focused on audit practices.
Throughout his tenure at both KFC and Yum!, Ulrich assumed a variety of finance and accounting positions, culminating in his role as Interim Chief Financial Officer for KFC US in October 2022. In this capacity, he oversaw the entirety of the financial operations for the $5 billion brand, encompassing approximately 4,000 restaurants across the nation.
Ulrich graduated with the highest honors from the University of Kentucky, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. He also holds the designation of Certified Public Accountant.
This news follows closely on the company’s recent grand opening of the eagerly awaited Terre Haute Casino Resort in Indiana. The expansive 400,000-square-foot resort features an opulent hotel with 122 rooms, a cutting-edge events center, and an extensive casino floor housing 1,000 slot machines, 36 table games, and a dedicated area for sports betting.
This endeavor has significantly stimulated the regional economy, generating 1,000 positions in construction. Now complete, it provides approximately 550 full and part-time roles. Furthermore, CDI collaborated with Sports Illustrated this year to establish a novel, exclusive culinary offering at the Kentucky Derby.
