Wagering platforms Betr and WynnBet are withdrawing from the Massachusetts sports betting market. This decision coincides with WynnBet’s intention to cease operations in seven additional states.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) verified the official departure of both entities from the Bay State’s gambling arena. Betr halted its Massachusetts activities on February 16th, receiving formal approval from the MGC during a public session on February 21st. Betr patrons have until March 16th to retrieve any remaining funds from their accounts. Subsequently, Massachusetts residents with outstanding balances will be issued checks.

WynnBet declared its Massachusetts exit in mid-February, with the MGC confirming the company’s ongoing wind-down process. Clients can access their wagering records until March 12th. Following this date, WynnBet will directly communicate with individuals possessing unsettled wagers.

Speculation regarding WynnBet’s downsizing in multiple states surfaced last August. Initially, the company asserted that Massachusetts and Nevada operations were secure, while New York and Michigan were under evaluation. Evidently, circumstances have shifted.

On its Massachusetts FAQ section, WynnBet succinctly attributes its decision to shutter its mobile sports betting platform in the state to “business reasons.”

However, our collaborators will still possess sports wagering operational at Encore Boston Harbor, both physically and through those terminals.”

This development follows merely seven days after Caesars Entertainment finalized its acquisition of Wynn Resorts’ internet gaming enterprise in Michigan.
