UK National Lottery Under Fire Amid Concerns Over Instant-Win Games and Charitable Giving

This matter is particularly critical as the selection process for the next lottery administrator (slated to assume control in 2024) is presently in progress. The winning bidder is anticipated to be revealed within the coming two months, and the urgency for change is escalating.

Sir Iain Duncan Smith, a leading figure in the discussion and vice-chair of the cross-party parliamentary group on gambling-related harm, conveyed his apprehensions to The Guardian. He remarked, “A predetermined percentage [of funds] should be allocated to beneficial endeavors. Currently, the operator resembles any other gaming enterprise.”
