Bet365 Discontinues Telephone Betting Due to Declining Usage

A major player in the UK wagering industry, Bet365, is discontinuing telephone wagers. The company cites declining usage as the reason for the change. In an official announcement, Bet365 stated that telephone wagers represented a very small portion of their operations and maintaining the service was no longer financially viable.

Fortunately, Bet365 employees impacted by this shift have been reassigned to different positions within the organization. Additionally, Bet365 is contacting the limited number of customers who still place wagers via telephone to guide them towards online alternatives.

In reality, telephone wagering has waned in popularity. Even for businesses that continue to offer it, the income generated is insignificant compared to their online operations. Consider GVC Holdings, for instance. In their last report disclosing telephone wagering revenue, it amounted to a mere £2.7 million against their total revenue of £662 million.

Bet365’s online platforms are where the majority of the activity takes place. Data from SEMrush reveals that they are attracting more UK players than any other operator. In April alone, their website received an impressive 20.9 million visits from the UK, leaving their nearest competitor, SkyBet, behind with 16 million. Their success extends beyond the UK as well. Bet365 has also secured the leading position in Brazil, surpassing even local favorites like Sportingbet.
