BetPawa Partners with Baks Foundation to Combat Betting Addiction in Ghana

A leading African wagering platform, BetPawa, has partnered with the Baks-Calmare Enclave Foundation, a renowned mental health organization, to address the increasing prevalence of betting addiction. This alliance highlights BetPawa’s dedication to ethical gaming principles across its operational areas.

Founded in 2018 and officially acknowledged by the Mental Health Foundation in 2022, the Baks Foundation boasts a solid history of delivering critical assistance to youth facing social and emotional difficulties that can result in compulsive gambling. BetPawa’s financial contribution will be crucial in broadening the scope and efficacy of the Foundation’s counseling programs.

This endeavor expands upon BetPawa’s prior endeavors to champion responsible gaming. In the previous year, the company played a pivotal role in establishing a specialized responsible gaming hotline in Ghana, furnishing the Gaming Commission of Ghana with vital information technology tools.

Kweku Asenso Brobbey, Director of Business Development at the Baks Foundation, lauded the collaboration, asserting that “This joint effort with BetPawa to assist individuals struggling with gambling addiction is unprecedented in Ghana. It reinforces BetPawa’s standing as a frontrunner in ethical corporate citizenship.”

He further underscored the importance of this partnership, observing that “Beyond problem gambling therapy, BetPawa’s assistance allows Ghanaians to access other essential social-psychological support services, which are frequently cost-prohibitive.”

This announcement follows a comparable move in May of this year, where player protection software providers Mindway AI and AnonyMind teamed up to deliver enhanced assistance for problem gamblers.

This collaborative effort seeks to assist players facing challenges with gambling-related issues and dependency. They plan to implement a novel methodology that integrates various tactics to pinpoint individuals at risk and provide them with necessary support. AnonyMind will match each person with a suitable counselor based on their specific requirements, similar to a physician developing a tailored treatment regimen.
